Heavy-Duty Truck Repair — Complete Brake Service (preview)

Most general repair shops can't take a heavy-duty truck. The bays are too small, the lifts won't reach, and the equipment doesn't fit. At Complete Brake Service, we've been the heavy-duty truck repair shop in Columbus that owner-operators and fleet managers count on since 1986. Our lot has the room, our bays have the height, and our equipment handles 22.5" and 24.5" wheels — the difference between a shop that can do the work and a shop that has to send you somewhere else.

When to Bring Your Heavy-Duty Truck In

Whether it's preventive or pressing, the cost of taking it off the road for an hour to look at something is almost always less than the cost of being parked at a roadside inspection — or breaking down at a customer's loading dock.

DOT inspection dueSchedule before the deadline. We'll do the inspection and fix anything that comes up in the same visit when possible.
Out-of-service violationIf you got flagged at a roadside check, bring the report. We'll work through it and document the corrections so you can get back on the road compliant.
Air brake or pressure issuesSlow buildup, low pressure warnings, or audible leaks — air system problems are urgent and shouldn't wait.
Engine, transmission, or drivetrain troubleHard shifts, driveline vibration, loss of power, or a check engine light — major mechanical issues that need real diagnostic time.
Suspension or ride height issuesSagging air ride, broken leaf spring, kingpin play, worn tie rods — all of these affect handling and tire wear quickly.
Routine fleet maintenanceScheduled PMs are the cheapest hour your trucks ever spend in a shop. We can build a maintenance schedule around your operation.

Heavy-Duty Truck Repair Questions, Answered

The questions Columbus owner-operators and fleet managers ask us most.

What size and class of trucks do you service?

We service Class 4 through Class 8 trucks — medium-duty diesels, box trucks, dump trucks, semi-trucks, commercial vans, and the heavy-duty pickups that bridge into commercial use. Our bays accommodate full-size rigs, and our equipment is sized for 22.5" and 24.5" commercial wheels. If it can roll into our lot, we can almost certainly work on it.

Do you do DOT inspections?

Yes. We perform DOT-compliant annual inspections on commercial trucks and trailers, including air brake system inspection, slack adjuster checks, lighting, suspension, and the full inspection requirements. If we find issues during the inspection, we can address them in the same visit when possible — saving you a second trip.

Can you handle out-of-service violations?

Yes. Bring your inspection report and we'll work through it — repair the flagged items, document the corrections, and get the paperwork together so you can return to service compliant. We've worked through every common roadside violation, from brake adjustment issues to lighting failures to tire-tread depth problems.

Do you offer fleet maintenance programs?

Yes. We work with fleet operators on scheduled preventive maintenance — oil and fluid services, brake checks, tire and alignment service, DOT inspections, and the kind of regular workup that catches small problems before they become breakdowns. We can build the cadence around your operating schedule and the way your trucks actually get used.

Do you work on diesel and gas heavy-duty trucks?

Both. Most heavy-duty trucks are diesel, but we also service gasoline-powered medium-duty trucks and commercial vans. If your truck has a diesel engine, our diesel-specific services (DPF, fuel injection, glow plugs, emissions) are covered on our diesel truck repair page — we handle the full diesel side of the work too.

Can you do brake work on semi-trucks and commercial trucks?

Yes — and brakes are our namesake service. Air brake systems, slack adjusters, S-cams, drums, and disc brakes on every commercial position. Whether you need a full brake job, an air system diagnosis, or a DOT-compliant brake inspection, brake work on heavy-duty trucks is core to what we've done since 1986.

How quickly can you get my truck in?

It depends on the day and the work. For routine and scheduled work, calling ahead almost always gets you in within a few days. For breakdowns and urgent issues, we do our best to fit trucks in same-day or next-day, especially for fleet customers and active commercial operations. Schedule online or call (614) 221-4888 — we'll give you a real answer about timing.
